What is flicker?

Flicker is a low-frequency effect on mains voltage caused by loads. For example, flicker leads to fluctuations in the brightness of lights and computer screens.

The causes of flicker include the inrush current surge and a periodic load on the power supply, for example. The thresholds in the “flicker standard” IEC/EN 61000-3-3 apply to both one-off and periodic events.

PULS guarantees compliance with the thresholds when a power supply is switched on, but not in the case of extreme pulse loads at the output of a power supply.
