What is IO-Link?

IO-Link was developed to retrieve signals from sensors and actuators (IO-Link devices) at the field level. These signals are imported via an IO-Link master into the corresponding field bus system and transmitted to the automation system.

The combination of field bus and IO-Link allows for end-to-end communication across all levels. IO-Link is an open standard which is compatible with all common field bus and automation systems. This makes it very versatile.
